GOVERNMENT
When lockdown made face to face medical care a challenge, digital health and telehealth quickly came to the fore- and Amandeep was a sought after expert that Government and other stakeholders turned to, for help.
With nearly two decades of experience as a doctor on the frontline and more than a decade working in the digital health sector, Amandeep is called upon by the government regularly for her unique combination of skill sets.
She has worked at local, state and federal levels, and has had input into major digital health projects and initiatives including the roll out of the My Health Record, the National Health Services Directory, The National Coronavirus Helpline, the healthdirect nurse triage service, the national assessment framework for mHealth apps and the National Health Interoperability Roadmap.
Whether it is reviewing implementations of state based EMRs, or helping set up a national telehealth service, Amandeep is able to bring her unique problem solving skills, her clinician perspective, as well as her experience as a digital health expert and innovative thinker. She uses her experiences in digital health, innovation, policy, implementation, strategy and governance to solve problems at all levels. She has many ongoing roles in government including being a Clinical Reference Lead for the Australian Digital Health Agency.
At a state government level, Amandeep was part of a team that was commissioned by SA Health to conduct an independent review of the Electronic Patient Administration System and Electronic Medical Record in South Australia, and brought on as lead for the state’s Electronic Medical Record System Benefits Realisation Plan. She also conducted a review of governance and quality for Healthdirect Australia’s after-hours telehealth service in Tasmania.
Amandeep was part of a team commissioned by The Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council (AHMAC) to review and develop an omnichannel model of care for triage services for Healthdirect, and was a member of the independent four-person panel advising on potential Commonwealth Government involvement in the mHealth market for the AHMAC and ADHA.
